Trial Report Summary

Parkland Coop Variety Evaluation

Crop Type(s):
Wheat
Centre(s):
PCDF
Year(s):
2017
Collaborators(s):

Dean Spanner – Coordinator, University of Alberta Research Station
Klaus Strenzke – Research Technician, University of Alberta Research Station

Objective(s):

To evaluate wheat varieties for the Parkland Coop.

Project Findings:

Good early-season soil moisture provided excellent growing conditions for wheat. Dry growing conditions resulted in relatively low incidence of disease, and appeared to hasten maturity. The yield results for Roblin 2017 represent only one site year, and should not be used to draw broader conclusions. For more information, contact Klause Strenzke, strenzke@ualberta.ca.

Background:

The Parkland Cooperative wheat trial is conducted across the Prairies as a resource for wheat breeders to generate data in support of registration of new Canada Western Red Spring varieties.
